Lawkidunya (News Desk): ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team arrested Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari amid heavy security.

The move comes shortly after the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) rejection of pre-arrest bail plea filed by Zardari and Sindh lawmaker Faryal Talpur in the money laundering case. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, allowed the anti-graft watchdog to arrest the Zardari siblings.

A large presence of security personnel and senior officials are present at the former president’s Islamabad residence. Reportedly the NAB team has not been able to enter the premises as Zardari’s legal team is asking for the correct paperwork. The accountability body earlier approached National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to seek permission before arresting the PPP lawmaker.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, allowed the anti-graft watchdog to arrest the Zardari siblings after rejecting their pre-arrest bail application.

The verdict was reserved earlier today in two cases related to money laundering of billions through fake accounts.
